Ideas to keep the kids entertained in the holidays

So, the school holidays are upon us and we have 6 weeks stretching out ahead in which to keep the children entertained and our sanity intact! Whether you’re at home with the kids full time or just a day or two each week we can all benefit from having a few tricks up our sleeves to give the children a summer of fun that they will remember (and maybe even learn something from!).

Kids’ activities can be expensive and we can't always guarantee the weather in the UK. Us parents are always searching for low cost trips and days out but how about stuff we can do right here at home? The kitchen is often the heart of the home and obviously it is mainly used for cooking, feeding and washing clothes. Now it’s time to think a bit more laterally than that; your kitchen can become the place where your children play, learn, make and create – for the next few weeks at least.

We’ve put together a series of posts – 1 per week for the next 6 weeks – that offer ideas and inspiration for activities to keep the children happy and engaged, right here in the kitchen. We’ve scoured the web to find the best tips and ideas for cooking, baking, arts and crafts, science, imaginative play and even learning that you can do from home while spending hardly anything and nobody will feel that they’ve missed out! You can see the post for week 1 here

Win a £25 Toys R Us Voucher!

Check in with the blog, or visit our Facebook page, every Monday for new ideas throughout the summer. We’d also like to hear your ideas. Everyone that engages with us on our Summer Kitchen Activity theme on the Facebook page will be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 Toys R Us voucher which could provide a nice treat for your little darlings as they go back to school in September. You could submit your own ideas, let us know what you think of ours or give us feedback on any activities that you do as a result of the blog. Basically, anything related to keeping the kids happy at home over the summer will be eligible. The draw will be made on Friday 29th August. Good luck and happy ‘summering’!
