3Style Kitchens – Where We Came From and What We Believe In
From 3D Kitchens to 3Style Kitchens
3Style Kitchens was established in 2012 by Dean Clements. Dean has over 20 years in kitchen design and fitting and was the founder of the highly successful kitchen company 3D Kitchens & Bedrooms in Wakefield.
Dean started 3D Kitchens & Bedrooms in 1994 with his wife, Dawn, hence the name – Dean & Dawn Design, AKA 3D! As well as having ambitions to create and build a business, a driving force behind establishing 3D was to be able to offer employment to his brother who had sustained a brain injury in a car accident. The company was a real family affair, run by Dean and Dawn and also employing Dean’s brother and father.
The company grew over the years, eventually moving into the extensive showroom on Westgate in Wakefield and taking on a new business partner. In 2009 Dean began to feel unhappy with the direction the business was going, in which focused more on kitchen add-ons than complete kitchens, and the unsustainable investments it had made which required the partners to work 7 days a week to pay substantial rents. Dean made the decision to extricate himself from 3D and start again. He is no longer associated with the company.
Back to Basics with 3Style Kitchens
Dean felt that the way forward was to take a step backward! He wanted a more simplistic approach where he felt in full control of the business and the service and quality he was able to offer. He believed that customers were looking for a high quality solution – fully bespoke fitted cabinets rather ‘patching up’ with replacement doors and worktops, a false economy in the long term. He also wanted to go back to basics; seeing a job through from initial consultation and design right through to fitting and finishing – a process he had become devolved from as the company had grown at 3D.
Having worked with local kitchen manufacturer, Daval Furniture (a company renowned for its quality), for many years, Dean struck up a partnership to become the only Daval reseller in the Wakefield area. He also had a network of trusted tradespeople that he could call upon as required, including tilers, electricians, fitters and plumbers. Combine these assets and experience with low overhead costs and it made for a positive new start with 3Style Kitchens – a small company with a simple approach but backed by real expertise and a desire to do right by its customers.
